ICYMI : Overnight, Trump rejects "any deal" on DHS funding until Republicans pass the "SAVE America Act"
Senate Republicans have now blocked TSA pay 8 times & blocked separate bills to fund TSA, FEMA, CISA, & Coast Guard 11 times in total
Washington, D.C. - Today, Senate Republicans once again blocked legislation offered by Senate Democrats to pay Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers, as airport security lines worsen nationwide and as President Trump insists that Republicans reject any solution to fund TSA or the broader Department of Homeland Security (DHS) until Congress passes his "SAVE America Act."
Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) sought unanimous consent to pass legislation to pay all TSA employees while broader negotiations on DHS continue, but Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) objected.
"As we enter spring and schools across the nation approach their Spring Breaks, millions of families will soon be traveling. Unfortunately, they will be met with longer lines because Washington Republicans refuse to pay our TSA agents," said Senator Rosen. "That's why I rose yet again with a simple, practical proposal to pay our hardworking TSA agents-pay them right now. Washington Republicans shouldn't penalize TSA and the traveling public for the fact that they refuse to rein in ICE and have them be accountable, have them be trained, transparent, and accountable like every other law enforcement agency in this country."
