[Notification] Important notice on banking transaction for foreigner customers

Dear Valued Customers,

Shinhan Bank Vietnam Limited ("Shinhan Bank") would like to sincerely thank you for choosing to use our products and services over the past time.

Due to recent regulatory updates and compliance requirements, important changes now apply to banking transactions for foreign customers.

Please review the following information carefully and cooperate accordingly to ensure smooth and convenient banking services.

  1. Regular Update of Passport and Valid Residence Documents Required

Please ensure that your passport and valid proof of residence in Vietnam are regularly updated with the Bank.
If these documents are expired or not submitted in a timely manner, certain services such as auto-renewal of term deposits & interest payments, and withdrawal/payment transactions may be temporarily suspended.

※ Proofs of valid residence in Vietnam include: Resident Card/ Visa or alternative documents/ Documents proving visa exemption

  1. Foreigner Cannot Hold Vietnam Dong Cash Term Deposit (TD Saving)

As stipulated by Circular 48/2018/TT-NHNN, foreign individuals are not permitted to maintain term deposits in Vietnam Dong cash.
If you currently hold such a deposit, please visit your nearest branch as soon as possible to receive consultation and assistance with account closure.

  1. Required Account Type for Securities Transactions Based on Residency Period

For indirect investment transactions such as securities trading, foreign customers must use the appropriate account type according to their length of stay in Vietnam.
Especially, long-term residents with existing securities trading accounts must update their linked account type.

  1. Discontinuation of Magnetic Stripe Card Transactions and Security Reminder

For your security, Shinhan Bank has discontinued all transactions using magnetic stripe cards (including magnetic stripe-only cards and hybrid chip cards). We recommend the following best practices:

  • Regularly update your PIN
  • Immediately block your card if you suspect information leakage
  • Request a reissuance as necessary
