‘Mission Viejo Thrives,’ MV Shuttle and more on Council’s June 23 agenda

The City Council on Tuesday, June 23 will consider a small business grant program, continued operations of the MV Shuttle and will raise awareness of a critical issue.

The business portion of the meeting begins at 6 pm in the Council Chamber at 200 Civic Center.

Council Members will consider entering into an agreement with the California State University, Fullerton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to support a "Mission Viejo Thrives" small business grant program designed to foster economic vitality and business growth within the community. Through this partnership, the SBDC would provide technical assistance, training, and consulting services to Mission Viejo businesses through grant-supported business improvement and digital marketing programs.

The Council will also consider awarding an agreement for continued operation of the MV Shuttle. Predominantly funded by the Orange County Transportation Association Project V funding program, the Shuttle offers riders a free and convenient way to get around town.

During the presentation portion of the evening, the Council will proclaim this time of the year as Drowning Prevention and Awareness Season. With the importance of raising drowning prevention awareness year-round and particularly during warmer months, representatives from the Orange County Fire Authority will discuss this critical topic. The need is certainly there - as drowning remains a leading cause of injury-related deaths among children under five in California.

Council Members will also proclaim July as Parks and Recreation Month and issue a proclamation recognizing the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation.

Meetings are streamed live on the City's website and air on Cox Channel 30 and AT&T U-Verse Channel 99. Residents are encouraged to sign up for the City's eNewsletter and follow the City's official social media sites for the most accurate, up-to-date information.
