Chariton Man Pleads Guilty to Insurance Fraud

Des Moines - Terry Devore, age 45, of Chariton, pleaded guilty on May 12, 2025, to one count of Insurance Fraud - Fraudulent Submissions. Devore was sentenced to probation for a period of two years, and $925 in civil penalties.

The charges against Devore stem from an investigation that began in December 2024. According to a criminal complaint filed by the Iowa Insurance Division's Fraud Bureau, Devore obtained an insurance policy for a vehicle after being involved in a motor vehicle accident in an attempt to obtain coverage for the accident. Devore made false statements to the insurance company.

Devore was arrested by the Lucas County Sheriff's Office on February 4, 2025.
