By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
WHEREAS, for one hundred years, agricultural education has empowered generations of youth to develop leadership skills, achieve personal growth, and pursue diverse career opportunities, shaping future leaders and strengthening communities; and
WHEREAS, in 1926, Virginia agricultural educators envisioned a model that integrated classroom instruction, experimental agricultural learning, and student leadership development into a national standard for agricultural education; and
WHEREAS, annually, thousands of students across the Commonwealth are prepared through agricultural education for successful careers and a lifetime of informed decision-making within the global agriculture, food, fiber, and natural resources sectors; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizes the invaluable contributions of youth development organizations whose dedication supports the continued growth of the agricultural industry, expands educational opportunities, and cultivates the next generation of community leaders; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1928, the National FFA Organization celebrates a near century of dedicated service and commitment to advancing agricultural education through foundational instruction and immersive agricultural experiences that foster leadership, growth, and career readiness; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, Governor, do hereby recognize June 10, 2026, as the 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF AGRICULTURE EDUCATION IN VIRGINIA in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
