Service Alert: Republic Services Collection Delays Continue – Drop Off Locations Now Available

UNION CITY, CA, July 10, 2025 - Union City's waste hauler, Republic Services, remains impacted by a labor action involving drivers who began a work stoppage on July 8 in solidarity with Teamster members nationwide.
As a result of the work stoppage, the following services are currently delayed:

• Landfill (garbage) collection for all residents, apartments/condos, and businesses
• Recycling and compost collection serviced by Republic Services for apartments/condos and businesses

Note: Compost and recycling services provided by Tri-CED Community Recycling are not impacted. Please continue to set out all Tri-CED recycling and compost carts on your regularly scheduled pickup day.

Drop-Off Locations Now Available for Residents

To support residents during the service disruption, Union City and Republic Services have identified two temporary public drop-off sites where bins will be located for residents to dispose of their garbage:

1. City Parking Lot#1 at Union City BART - 11th Street & Decoto Road

2. Mark Green Sports Center - 31224 Union City Boulevard

Note: These bins are for household garbage only. These bins will be serviced daily by Republic Services.
