President Trump’s Trade Policy is Delivering for the American People

WASHINGTON - This week, Ambassador Greer testified before the House Ways and Means Committee to lay out how President Trump's trade policy is delivering tangible results for American workers and their families, eliminating long-standing trade barriers abroad while reshoring jobs and production back home.

Here are the hearing highlights:

President Trump Trade Program Continues to Prove the So-Called "Experts" Wrong: Chairman Jason Smith (MI-08) outlined how "President Trump set the stage for a roaring economy that helps workers achieve the American dream," securing trade deals covering over half the world's population. From Buenos Aires to Canberra, President Trump used tariffs to unlock new markets for U.S. exports to boost America's global competitiveness.

USTR Continues to Address Trade Barriers Facing American Exporters: Representative Claudia Tenney (NY-24) spotlighted examples from the 2026 National Trade Estimate Report regarding how Canada restricts market access for U.S. dairy, bans U.S. wine, and prohibits bulk fresh produce imports. The Trump Administration will continue to raise these issues with Canada to ensure a level playing field for American exporters.

American Manufacturing is Back: Representative Nathaniel Moran (TX-01) reflected on how America First trade is revitalizing America's manufacturing base, creating jobs and raising blue-collar wages. In one-year alone, real manufacturing worker pay increased by $2,400 under President Trump after falling by $830 during President Biden's four years in office. During the hearing, Ambassador Greer highlighted the surge in orders for capital goods used for production, exceeding $4 billion each month of the fourth quarter of 2025.

President Trump Achieved Back-to-Back Months of Record-Breaking Exports: Representative Aaron Bean (FL-04) highlighted how the Made in America agenda delivered the highest monthly export figures in U.S. history, totaling over $600 billion in January and February.

Tariffs are Correcting Decades of Bad Trade Policy to Advance Americans' Prosperity: Ambassador Greer countered Representative Tom Suozzi's narrative about the Administration's tariff policy by stating the facts:
• The Dow closed above 50,000 for the first time in its nearly 130-year history.
• America continues to outperform all G7 nations in economic growth.
• President Trump's trade policy is bringing manufacturing back to America, incentivizing companies to build, invest, and expand operations on American soil.

American Farmers are Bearing the Fruit from President Trump's Tariff Program: From corn and dairy to ethanol and eggs, U.S. agricultural exports are seeing double-digit growth in 2025. Representative Randy Feenstra (IA-04) applauded the administration's work to open new markets for American farmers.
