Dear friends,
I would like to thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate the challenges brought on by the recent high winds and power outages affecting our community.
Southern California Edison (SCE) instituted these outages in an effort to mitigate any wildfire risks associated with electrical infrastructure. While the City of Fontana does not have authority over SCE's operations or decisions, we are doing everything within our power to support our residents and advocate for a swift resolution.
The safety and well-being of our residents is and will always be our No. 1 priority.
To that end, our public safety and public works crews have been working tirelessly across the city, addressing wind-related damage, traffic signal outages, extinguishing fires, and clearing debris from more than 50 reports of downed trees.
To assist those impacted by the power outages, we are offering services at three of our community centers, where residents can charge their phones and laptops.
The public is welcome to visit any of these three centers and utilize the services offered during the following hours:
To assist those impacted by these outages, Southern California Edison has deployed a mobile community trailer at the Jesse Turner Center through tomorrow, Jan 11 at 10p, where residents can charge their phones and access other resources.
The SCE hours of operation at Jessie Turner are:
Heritage Center:
Cypress Center:
Don Day Center:
Additionally, Burrtec has provided organic trash containers to Don Day Community Center and Jesse Turner Community Center for residents to dump any perishables in these containers.
Additionally, on Saturday, Jan 11th from 10a - 4p the County of San Bernardino will be providing trash bags, gloves, masks, and solar phone chargers to residents affected by the power outages.
