City of Mission Viejo expands access to convenient, public EV charging

The City of Mission Viejo continues to take proactive steps to support sustainable transportation and make electric vehicle (EV) charging more accessible to the community. Two single-port ChargePoint Level 2 charging stations are now available for public use at 200 Civic Center, providing residents and visitors with a convenient option to charge their vehicles while visiting the Civic Center.

Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the stations, which were paid for with grant funding, offer flexible access for EV drivers. Users can easily begin a charging session through the ChargePoint mobile app or by using a credit card. The current charging rate is $0.35 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), with no limit on charging time.

To promote efficient use of the charging spaces and ensure availability for other drivers, vehicles must be disconnected and moved within 60 minutes after charging ends. An inactivity fee of $5 per hour applies after the grace period until the session is ended. The two designated parking spaces are reserved exclusively for EV charging, including one ADA-accessible space to help accommodate drivers with disabilities.

By investing in accessible charging infrastructure, the City continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability, community convenience and supporting the growing use of electric vehicles.

To report a damaged charger, equipment malfunction or other issue, contact the City's Public Services Department at 949-470-3064.
