The City of Fort Worth received the fifth of six Transparency Stars from Acting Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Kelly Hancock during a City Council Work Session last week.

The program recognizes local governments for going above and beyond in their transparency efforts by posting required data online through the City's website, providing clear and meaningful financial information and other relevant information publicly. The State Comptroller conducts regular reviews of each awardee, ensuring ongoing accuracy and completeness.

The fifth and most recent Transparency Star awarded to Fort Worth is for Contracts and Procurement. The award criteria includes these metrics:

• Spending on procurement and contracting activities in total and per capita.

• Total number of publicly posted bidding and contracting opportunities.

• Total number of closed bids/solicitations or awarded contracts.

• Total dollar amount of bids received from bid invitations or requests for proposals.

• Total dollar amount awarded from contracts.

• Time trend showing authorizations versus actual expenditures for the past five fiscal years.

• Total contracts broken down by business sector for the last completed fiscal year.

These Transparency Stars were awarded to the City of Fort Worth previously:

  • Traditional Finances Transparency Star, awarded June 30, 2025
  • Debt Obligations Transparency Star, awarded Aug. 31, 2025
  • Public Pensions Transparency Star, awarded Aug. 31, 2025
  • Open Government and Compliance Transparency Star, awarded Sept. 30, 2025
