"I'm thankful for the opportunity to serve as the next Eastern Region Vice President of NAST, which is a valuable association that helps state finance officials throughout the country promote sound financial practices. I am excited to continue helping empower my fellow NAST members to deliver results for their constituents, just as Treasury has done for the hardworking people of Pennsylvania."
The Eastern Region includes 12 states, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
Treasurer Garrity was also presented with the NAST Jesse M. Unruh Award at this year's NAST Annual Conference held recently in Denver, CO. Garrity will share the award with North Dakota Treasurer Thomas Beadle after both received tying votes. She was nominated by Indiana State Treasurer Daniel Elliot.
"I'm honored to be recognized by my colleagues and peers for the great work being done at the Pennsylvania Treasury. NAST's membership is comprised of state treasurers or state finance officials with comparable responsibilities from the United States, its commonwealths, territories, and the District of Columbia, along with employees of these agencies. It provides education and offers valuable resources for its members. Through the association, members share information, best practices and discuss public finance policy.
