GREENSBORO, NC (February 26, 2026) - One man was hospitalized early Thursday after an officer-involved shooting in the area of Orchard Street and Randleman Road.
Greensboro Police responded to a domestic disturbance at approximately 12:41 a.m. in the 1200 block of Orchard Street, where a caller reported a man was attempting to break in and was banging on a window.
When officers arrived and made contact with the suspect in the parking lot, the suspect fired multiple shots at police before he fled in a vehicle. The suspect led officers on a brief pursuit before returning to the original scene, firing additional shots at officers before his vehicle stopped in the parking lot.
As the suspect exited the vehicle, he continued to fire shots at officers. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect.
Officers immediately began rendering aid, and requested EMS to transport the individual to a local hospital for treatment. No officers were injured.
This is an active investigation. Further details are not immediately available for public release.
In addition, the Greensboro Police Department's Professional Standards Division will conduct an internal investigation to determine whether Greensboro Police Department policies were followed. Pursuant to departmental policy, the officers involved in this incident have been placed on administrative duty.
