Washington, D.C. - This evening, Senate Republicans once again blocked two separate bills offered by Senate Democrats to pay Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers.
First , Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) sought unanimous consent to pass legislation to pay all TSA employees, but Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) objected.
Then , Senator Merkley sought unanimous consent to pass legislation to fund all of DHS except for ICE and CBP to continue negotiations to rein in the agencies, but again Senator Moreno objected.
"We can pay TSA workers right here, right now," said Senator Merkley. "Republicans are more interested in playing political games and holding the rest of DHS hostage, than governing and keeping our communities safe!"
