Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, is proud to announce that David Oh, MD, interim co-director and chief medical officer, has been appointed to America's Blood Centers (ABC) Board of Directors. This prestigious national leadership role not only recognizes Oh's respected career and dedication to advancing transfusion medicine but also ensures Hoxworth has a powerful voice at the table in shaping the future of blood banking and donor services across the country. His appointment, made official in Washington, D.C. this March, reflects both his personal leadership and Hoxworth's growing influence on a national stage.

Founded in 1962, America's Blood Centers (ABC) is the national organization bringing together community-based, independent blood centers across North America. These organizations operate in more than 1,100 communities and provide close to 60 percent of the U.S. and a quarter of the Canadian blood supply. ABC member organizations serve more than 150 million people and provide blood products and services to more than 3,500 hospitals and health care facilities. Oh's board appointment allows him to represent the needs of Hoxworth to this nationally important organization. Oh is one of nine board members, which demonstrates how exclusive this honor is. He is the first in recent history from Hoxworth to serve on this board.

David Oh, MD, MHA, associate professor, serves as chief medical officer and co-chair, CEO of Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati. Oh completed his anatomic pathology and clinical pathology residency at the Cleveland Clinic, followed by a fellowship in transfusion medicine and blood banking at the Blood Center of Wisconsin. His extensive experience includes serving as chief medical officer at the San Diego Blood Bank, associate professor at Stanford University and medical director of clinical services at the Stanford Blood Center. Oh chairs the subsection committee for blood banking/transfusion medicine fellowship program directors at the Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB). He serves as the transfusion medicine subspecialty representative on the fellowship directors committee of the American Association of Pathologists (AAPath). He is a recipient of the prestigious ADRP Ronald O. Gilcher Award, which recognizes exceptional dedication and leadership in blood donation and medical science. In addition to his academic and professional roles, Oh hosts the popular podcast "In the Know With Dr. Oh" (hoxworth.org/podcast.html), where he discusses topics related to blood donation and therapies. Oh's current term will last three years, ending March 31, 2028.
