ICYMI: Senate Passes Cassidy, Republican Policies to Lower Drug Prices for Families, Rein in Health Care Middlemen

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released a statement after the U.S. Senate passed several provisions to lower prescription drug prices and rein in health care middlemen profiting off of American patients. These policies, strongly supported by Senate and House Republican leadership, are directly in line with President Trump's priorities to make health care affordable for families.

"As a doctor, I'm focused on lowering costs for Louisiana families. Republicans and Democrats agree that drug discounts are meant to reduce drug prices, not pad the profits of health care middlemen," said Dr. Cassidy. "These bipartisan, bicameral policies deliver on President Trump's efforts to make health care affordable and put patients first."

The provisions are supported by a broad coalition of pro-worker, pro-patient organizations, including the America First Policy Institute, the National Community Pharmacists Association, The ERISA Industry Committee, Partnership for Employer-Sponsored Coverage, Purchaser Business Group on Health, National Alliance of Healthcare Purchaser Coalitions, Silicon Valley Employers Forum, and the CHRO Association.
