On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of Spain as they celebrate La Fiesta Nacional de España.
The National Day of Spain commemorates the rich historical and cultural links that underlie the partnership between the United States and Spain. As NATO Allies, our partnership on security, defense, and counterterrorism contributes to global safety and stability. For our partnership to endure and meet the challenges of the future, Spain, like all NATO Allies, should meet our collective defense spending commitment of five percent of GDP.
The United States expresses our congratulations to the Spanish people on this important national celebration.
