Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Two to the Florida Public Service Commission

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Ana Ortega and Bobby Payne to the Florida Public Service Commission. These appointments are effective January 2, 2026.

Ana Ortega

Ortega is a Chief Policy Advisor to the Florida Public Service Commission. Active in her community, she serves as a Chief Aide to the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners President and previously served as a Utility Regulatory Analyst for the Florida Public Service Commission. Ortega earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in public administration from Florida State University.

Bobby Payne

Payne is the Owner and Sole Proprietor of Bobby Payne Consulting, LLC. He was previously elected as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing Districts 19 and 20. Payne previously served as a Senior Project Development Representative, the Manager of Plant Operations, and the Manager of Projects for Seminole Electric Cooperative, Inc. and retired from the firm in 2019 after a nearly 40-year career in the electric industry. He earned his bachelor's degree from Jacksonville University and his master's degree in business administration from Nova Southeastern University.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
