Novato 2026 State of the City Now Available Online

Last night, City Manager Amy Cunningham delivered Novato's 2026 State of the City Address to a full audience of elected officials, community leaders, partner organizations, business owners, residents and City staff. The event was both informative and engaging, offering a meaningful opportunity for the community to connect with each other and with the City.

During her State of the City Address, City Manager Cunningham highlighted key accomplishments from 2025, including the adoption of the City's first balanced budget in more than five years. This milestone was made possible by the community's support of Measure M. With Measure M in place, the City now has the resources to invest in community-identified priorities, such as roads, parks and public safety. As a result, the Novato Police Department is now fully staffed, we've added two new maintenance workers to assist with streets and parks maintenance, roadway improvement projects are underway, Josef Hoog Community Park has a new playground and amenities for the community to enjoy, and we have our next playground replacement project scheduled for this year at Hamilton Amphitheater Park.

The Address also outlined upcoming projects and initiatives, such as the development of a new citywide Strategic Plan that will help shape Novato's future over the next few years. Additional topics included public safety and emergency response, support for Novato's small business community, housing, street improvements and community engagement efforts.

City Manager Cunningham concluded her remarks by saying, "With renewed financial strength, a connected community, and bold steps toward economic vitality, we are shaping a future that reflects our highest aspirations. Together, let's build a Novato that inspires, a city where opportunity thrives and generations live and flourish. The horizon is bright - and it's ours to create."
