Shreve Secures Committee Approval for 17 Community Projects, Advancing More Than $45 Million for Indiana’s Sixth District

WASHINGTON - Congressman Jefferson Shreve (IN-06) announced today that all 17 of his Community Project Funding requests have advanced through the House Appropriations Committee, totaling more than $45 million for Indiana's Sixth Congressional District.

The projects support public safety, military readiness, clean drinking water, wastewater infrastructure, roads, workforce development, and first responders across south central and eastern Indiana. Final funding must still pass the full House and Senate and be signed into law.

"Over the past two months, the Appropriations Committee has done the hard work required to move all 12 annual spending bills through committee on time. That matters because this is how Congress is supposed to work: debating priorities, controlling spending, and making decisions before the deadline," said Rep. Shreve. "All 17 projects I requested for the Sixth District advanced. These projects came directly from conversations with Hoosiers and address real needs in our communities. This is an important step. My focus now is getting them across the finish line and delivering these investments back home."

The projects include:

Military Construction and Veterans Affairs

  • $27.5 million for the Indiana National Guard to support a new aircraft maintenance hangar in Shelbyville.

Commerce, Justice, and Science

  • $1.65 million for the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department for bulletproof vests and helmets for officers.
  • $650,000 for the Shelbyville Police Department to replace outdated police radios.
  • $120,000 for the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office to upgrade to a mobile command center and fentanyl identification technology.

  • $1 million for the Town of Carthage to reduce stormwater infiltration into its sewer system.
  • $1 million for Hancock County to build a new regional water line serving Maxwell and Eden.
  • $1 million for the Town of New Palestine to upgrade and extend sewer service to residents.
  • $1 million for the Northwest Shelby County Regional Sewer District for new sewer infrastructure and a treatment plant.
  • $1 million for the City of Greenfield to replace lead pipes.
  • Transportation, Housing and Urban Development
  • $2 million for the City of Richmond to build a new fire station and improve local emergency response.
  • $1.8 million for the Amplify Hancock Innovation Center, a workforce development hub offering industry certifications with Hancock Health and Ivy Tech.
  • $1.1 million to replace the failing Forsythe Street culvert over Hurricane Creek in Franklin.

Rep. Shreve was selected to serve on the House Committee on Appropriations in 2026, making him the first Indiana Republican to serve on the committee in 30 years. He serves on the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development; Homeland Security; and Commerce, Justice, and Science subcommittees.
