Workshop Brings Business Leaders, Students Together to Share Insights

JONESBORO - Regional professionals will offer their insights at an event presented in partnership by the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the Delta Center for Economic Development at Arkansas State University.

The Six Types of Working Genius - Pathway from Intern to Business Leader workshop will take place from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, in the Black River Room of Reng Student Union.

It will feature a panel representing organizations and an interactive group session using the Working Genius framework.

This workshop will assist the 17 participating students identify their strengths and challenges, fostering greater productivity and long-term success.

"The Working Genius is an excellent leadership development resource. The workshop highlights the elements of work and teamwork. It helps participants identify their gifts and can transform working environments. This is a meaningful workshop that makes a difference," said Dr. Cliff Jones, deputy director of Delta Center for Economic Development.

Dr. Abhijit Bhattacharyya, dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, said the workshop is designed to help students gain new skills and ask questions as they prepare to enter the workforce.

"I fully expect these students - and they are not the only ones in the college - to be leaders in the workforce and their community after they graduate from the university. I am grateful for the partnership with the Delta Center and the panelists for carving time out from their busy schedule to share their professional life journey with the participants of the event," Bhattacharyya said.

Panelists for the first session include:

  • Nahush Kasture, continuous improvement engineer, Anchor Packaging, Paragould
  • Ramsey Brower, project engineer, Associated Electric Cooperative
  • Richard Hartness, plant manager, Electrical Installation Products plant, ABB, Jonesboro

Panelists for the second session include:

  • Michael Guerriero, president, Continental Utility Solutions Inc. (CUSI), Jonesboro
  • Kyle Morgan, president and co-owner, The Systems Group, Little Rock
  • Bert Parker, senior vice president and chief administrative officer, Garver (retired), Little Rock
