An 18-year-old remains jailed today on $13,000 bond after he was arrested Wednesday night in a BMW on I-24 East near Briley Parkway with marijuana and a handgun. Brandon Grigsby had six outstanding warrants, mainly related to domestic violence incidents this year.
Two of the grand jury indictments against Grigsby were related to an aggravated assault in May involving his pregnant girlfriend. She said Grigsby choked and kicked her before he attempted to stab her in the stomach. He also fired shots into the air and threatened to shoot up the home once the victim was successfully able to get him out of the residence. Grigsby was arrested the next day, but the charges were dismissed due to witness availability.
The other two indictments were in relation to a June domestic assault where Grigsby allegedly threw bleach into a family member's eyes during an argument. That case was also dismissed due to witness availability.
Grigsby was located by TITANS Unit detectives on Wednesday night at his mother's home on Holland Lane where he got into the passenger seat of the BMW with a 16-year-old driver. A traffic stop was initiated, but the driver attempted to flee. The BMW was disabled, and both were taken into custody.
Approximately 40 grams of marijuana and an ID were recovered from a backpack in the backseat. A pistol was also located on the back seat floorboard.
Grigsby was booked on his outstanding indictments for two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of domestic assault as well as harassment and theft charges. He was additionally charged with felony weapon possession and marijuana possession from last night's arrest.
The 16-year-old driver was charged in Juvenile Court with felony evading arrest.
