Imaging and radiology services continue at former Bradford Regional Medical Center

The imaging and radiology team in Bradford provide mammography, x-ray, ultrasound and DEXA services for the community.

BRADFORD, PA - Imaging and radiology services continue to be available at the former Bradford Regional Medical Center, where a dedicated team of four imaging professionals. In 2025, the imaging services and radiology department conducted more than 13,200 outpatient tests including mammographs.

As the former hospital campus completed a transition to an outpatient services center, local access to diagnostic imaging remains an important part of the care available in Bradford. From routine X-rays to provider-ordered diagnostic testing, imaging services help support primary care, orthopaedics, cardiology, women's health, oncology and other outpatient specialties that continue to serve the community.

For patients, the experience remains familiar. Imaging services continue to be provided locally by the same trusted caregivers, in the same building that has served the community for more than 100 years.

"I started my career here in this building and I'm so proud to continue leading our imaging services department. Bradford is a part of who I am both professionally and personally," said Laura Wertz, MBA, BS, RT(R)(CT). "Patients can continue coming to Bradford for their imaging needs. Even though the facility is now operating as an outpatient services center, but the care, the people and the commitment to our patients remain the same."

Available imaging and radiology services in Bradford include X-ray, ultrasound, mammography and DEXA services, also known as bone densitometry, giving patients access to important diagnostic care close to home.

X-ray services are used to diagnose illnesses and injuries to the abdomen, chest, lung and skeletal system as well as help detect cancer and heart disease. Mammography is an x-ray of the breast that can detect breast cancer, breast cysts, tissue density and abnormalities. DEXA scans also known as bone densitometry, are used to help diagnose osteoporosis and measure the density of bones. Ultrasounds are non-radiation tests that are used to help diagnose injuries or conditions to soft tissues like organs, glands and blood vessels, abdominal, pelvic, reproductive and breast tissue as well as for routine pregnancy and progress of newborn development.

Last year, the facility upgraded one of the x-ray rooms to state-of-the-art equipment that brought cutting-edge imaging technology to the community which allows the department to deliver faster, more accurate results.

"Imaging plays a critical role in healthcare, helping providers identify injuries and illness, confirm diagnoses and determine the best path forward for a patient's care," said Bradley J. Chapman, president, OGH "Just as importantly, choosing local services when appropriate helps sustain healthcare in Bradford. It supports the caregivers who are here, strengthens the outpatient model and helps ensure we can continue providing important services close to home."

In May Kaleida Health and other regional healthcare organizations transitioned onto one electronic health record (EHR), Epic, integrating care from Bradford to Buffalo.
