National Assembly Deputy Speaker Elvira Kovacs spoke at the opening of the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Central European Initiative Parliamentary Dimension (CEI PD) in the National Assembly today, welcoming the attending on behalf of National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic.
Kovacs assessed that the Central European Initiative has a long tradition, considering that it was founded in 1989, at a time when Europe was changing, and that it has stood the test of time and shown its vitality. "This initiative has shown commitment to improving cooperation between peoples, solidarity and mutual support between states in the difficult times behind us," stressed the National Assembly Deputy Speaker
She pointed out that half of the members of this initiative are in the European Union, while the other half are preparing for membership, and expressed her belief that, when all the members of the initiative become EU members, a large part of the work will be done and it will provide an opportunity for a new beginning.
Elvira Kovacs opined that today's topic - Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Communities and Cities, is important for future reflection on how parliamentarians should deal with modern trends and how to legally regulate them in a proper manner. "Serbia is looking to the future and I am glad that you will visit our Data Centre in Kragujevac tomorrow," said Kovacs, adding that Serbia has already hosted gatherings on artificial intelligence, which she considers important steps towards better understanding the modern trends that we will have to deal with in the future.
The session was chaired by the newly elected Chair of the CEI PD, member of the National Assembly delegation, Ana Miljanic.
