On 10 September, the designated Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, met with the newly appointed Israeli Ambassador to Lithuania, Shelly Hugler Livne.
The meeting discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Israel in the fields of defense, security, education, culture, life sciences, and high technologies, as well as issues related to international security.
As regards the situation in the Middle East, the Minister highlighted the difficult humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and called on Israel to address it without delay. The head of Lithuania's diplomacy reaffirmed the country's support for the two-state solution as a means of achieving peace and stability in the region.
Lithuania is closely following the situation in the Middle East and the possible escalation related to yesterday's Israeli military strike in Doha, Qatar.
