RHINELANDER, Wis. - Aspirus Rhinelander Hospital is pleased to welcome Raquel Lewis, MSN, FNP-BC, to its Pain Management team.
Lewis is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with approximately 30 years of clinical experience. Her diverse background includes family practice, women's health, obstetrics, medical-surgical nursing, emergency care, pediatrics, and healthcare operations management. She is dedicated to providing evidence-based, accessible, and patient-centered care.
She earned both her bachelor's and master's nursing degrees from Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Mich. She is certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB) and the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice.
At Aspirus, Lewis will provide care through the organization's pain management program, helping patients manage chronic pain and improve their quality of life through individualized treatment plans.
Driven by a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care, Lewis emphasizes trust, shared decision-making, and respect for each patient's unique needs. "I am committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care that empowers patients through education and shared decision-making," Lewis said. "My goal is to help patients achieve their best possible health outcomes."
A desire to make a greater impact on patient care led her to become a nurse practitioner.
"I pursued a career in medicine to expand my ability to care for patients and families across the lifespan," Lewis said. "After more than 30 years as a nurse, becoming a family nurse practitioner has allowed me to combine my clinical experience and passion for patient education to improve health outcomes for patients. As a Wisconsin native, I made a conscious decision to return to a rural community after three decades of practicing in the Chicago area because I believe everyone deserves access to high-quality health care, regardless of where they live."
Improving access to care in rural communities has been a driving force throughout her career. Her decision to join Aspirus was driven by a desire to serve patients in an area where providers can make a meaningful impact by expanding access to high-quality care and improving overall community health.
Dealing with pain can be frustrating and significantly affect quality of life. Aspirus Pain Management specialists help patients find relief from chronic pain through personalized treatment plans that may include therapies, exercises, medications, and other interventions tailored to individual needs. Patients do not have to let pain dictate their lives. Aspirus providers work with each person to develop strategies that help improve function, comfort, and overall well-being.
When she is not caring for patients, Lewis enjoys reading and taking boat rides.
