Centre College Student Completes Summer Internship in Congressman Comer’s Danville Office

WASHINGTON-Today, Congressman James Comer (R-Ky.) recognized Johnny Djema for completing a summer internship in his Danville, Kentucky District office. During his internship, Johnny assisted with general office work, met and spoke with 1st Congressional District constituents, and assisted Congressman Comer's Field Representatives to ensure local issues were addressed.

"In my Danville Office, Johnny was critical in assisting my Field Representative, and I want to thank him for his service to the 1st Congressional District. His work this summer was critical in helping me and my staff address concerns from constituents in Central Kentucky. Johnny has a bright future ahead of him, and I wish him the best in his future endeavors," Congressman Comer said.

Johnny Djema is a sophomore at Centre College studying Anthropology/Sociology and French.

"This internship has given me a valuable firsthand experience working in a congressional district office, which has significantly strengthened my understanding of public services and the role of constituent relations in the US government. I learned how to communicate effectively with constituents and outreach initiatives. Most importantly, I have learned that being accessible and responsive to the needs of the public is one of the most vital parts of a representative's duty," said Mr. Djema.

In Congressman Comer's District offices, interns may be asked to do a variety of things, including day-to-day office work such as answering phones, writing letters and assisting with media clips. In addition, interns may be assigned to assist in various constituent case work or work on District-based projects of importance.
