Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department Opens Firefighter Recruit Applications

Gilbert, Ariz. - The Gilbert Fire & Rescue Department is now accepting applications for its 2026 Firefighter Recruit Program, offering a unique opportunity for motivated individuals to begin a rewarding career serving the Gilbert community.

This recruitment supports Gilbert Fire & Rescue's ongoing commitment to excellence in emergency response, public safety, and community education. Firefighters respond to fire, medical, and other emergency incidents while also playing a vital role in fire prevention and safety outreach.

Successful candidates will attend a paid Recruit Academy, earning required certifications before being assigned to fire suppression duties. After graduation, firefighters work an average of five 48-hour shifts per month and have access to overtime, specialty assignments, and long-term career advancement.

Career pathways within Gilbert Fire & Rescue include Hazardous Materials (HazMat), Tactical Paramedics, Drone Operations, and promotional opportunities to Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, and beyond.

Applications open February 9, 2026, and close March 2, 2026 at 5:00 PM. Class 26-02 is scheduled to begin in late Summer 2026.
