Delmarva Power Making Significant Progress Restoring Customers Following Winter Storm Hernando; Vast Majority of Customers to be Restored Tonight

Delmarva Power crews are making significant progress responding to widespread damage and power outages caused by Winter Storm Hernando, which impacted the company's Delaware and Maryland service area. The storm brought a historic amount of heavy, wet snow and gusty winds, of 55 miles per hour or more, which have brought down trees and tree branches, causing widespread damage to the local energy grid.

More than 84,000 Delmarva Power customers experienced service interruptions during the storm; however, crews have made significant progress and have restored nearly 90 percent of customers impacted.

As of 3 p.m., approximately 7,000 customers remain without service. The most heavily impacted areas are in Sussex County, Del. and Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties in Maryland.

Delmarva Power deeply appreciates the patience and understanding customers have shown as crews continue working around the clock in cold temperatures and icy conditions.

As crews complete damage assessments and restoration work continues, estimated restoration times are now available for many impacted customers. Delmarva Power's goal is to provide customers with the most accurate information possible so they can make informed decisions regarding alternate or necessary arrangements.

Some customers in the most heavily damaged areas could require work into Thursday. Estimated restoration times will continue to be reviewed and updated as additional damage is assessed and work is performed. Customers should continue to check the company's website and mobile app for the latest estimated restoration time for their outage.

Delmarva Power's Emergency Response Organization remains activated. All available Delmarva Power field personnel, including more than 350 local and out-of-state contractors, are responding to restore service safely and as quickly as possible. Due to the impacts from this historic weather event, Delmarva Power crews and contractors will be working around the clock for several days to restore power for all customers.
