ICANN Invites Applications for the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy 2025

Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced that the application window for the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA) 2025 will open on Monday, 21 April, at 00:00 Korea Standard Time (20 April at 15:00 UTC).

Hosted by ICANN and the Korea Internet & Security Agency, APIGA will be held 18-22 August 2025 in Busan, Republic of Korea. More details, including application information, can be found on the APIGA 2025 website.

What Is APIGA?

Launched in 2016, APIGA is a five-day capacity-development program focused on Internet governance (IG) targeting youths in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region.

Through the program, participants will build a strong foundation in IG fundamentals. This includes guided pathways to continue participating in the IG space with ICANN, the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre, the Internet Engineering Task Force, the Internet Society, and various other IG forums.

Participants will learn via immersive, hands-on sessions with dedicated mentoring by regional industry experts. They will also build a strong network of peers, APIGA alumni, leading APAC Internet organizations, and key APAC community leaders.
Past data shows that one in four APIGA alumni continue to participate in IG forums locally, regionally, and globally.

Who Can Apply?

Individuals from the APAC region between the ages of 18 and 35 interested in IG issues are welcome to apply. The application deadline is Sunday, 11 May, at 23:59 KST (14:00 UTC). For more information about APIGA and to apply, please visit the APIGA 2025 website.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address - a name or a number - into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
