The City of Greensboro stands ready to assist residents affected by a potential pause in federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
"Our priority is to ensure no one in our community goes without food or essential support," said Greensboro City Manager Nathaniel "Trey" Davis. "We're working with our local partners to make sure resources are available and families know where to turn for help."
If SNAP funding is interrupted, the City will connect people to food assistance and coordinate with community partners.
The City will publish and promote information about local food pantries, community meal sites, and state resources so residents can find immediate food support. This information will include NC 211 for basic needs and food support, the Greater High Point Food Alliance for food access, and other available Guilford County food resources.
The City recognizes some federal employees who live in Greensboro may experience financial hardship during this time. Federal employees who have received a furlough notification and need assistance with their water bill should contact the City's Water Resources Department with a copy of their furlough letter to request an extended repayment plan to avoid service cutoff. Employees may visit the department in person at 2602 S. Elm-Eugene St., or email their furlough letter to [email protected].
Furloughed federal employees whose water service has been disconnected should call the City Contact Center at 336-373-CITY (2489) to request reconnection.
