Meeting with representatives of Daghestan

The discussion focused on relief efforts after the recent flooding and the issue of picking new leadership for the republic due to Daghestan Head Sergei Melikov Melikov SergeiHead of the Republic of Daghestan 's term expiring in September and his transfer to another post.

In accordance with the procedure established by law, Fyodor Shchukin, currently the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Daghestan, was nominated for Head of the republic, with his nomination to be confirmed by the People's Assembly of Daghestan.

Deputy Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Magomed Ramazanov has been nominated for Chair of the Government of Daghestan.

Vladimir Putin and the other participants in the meeting have emphasised Sergei Melikov's significant contribution to the development of the republic.
