HOMICIDE ARREST Aggravated Assault 2100 block of Joseph McNeil Ave

GREENSBORO, NC (February 20, 2026) - A 36-year-old man is in jail on a first-degree murder charge in connection with a homicide on Sunday.

Jamel Shannon Kinzer was arrested without incident on February 19, in the 3800 block of Poplar Valley Lane in Winston-Salem by the Greensboro Police Department's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), along with the assistance of the Winston-Salem Police Department, the FBI, and the SBI (State Bureau of Investigation). Kinzer was arrested on warrants for first-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a felon, and interfering with emergency communications in reference to the death investigation of Marquel Echols.

Kinzer is in the Guilford County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in court today.
