NAVSEA Welcomes Nashold as New Industrial Operations Executive Director

WASHINGTON - Elizabeth Nashold joined Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) as Executive Director for the Industrial Operations Directorate (NAVSEA 04), Jan. 6. In this role, Nashold will provide executive leadership for the more than 37,000 civilian and military personnel executing the critical depot-level repair, maintenance and modernization efforts of the Navy's submarines, aircraft carriers, and supporting surface ships.

With direct oversight of the Nation's four naval shipyards: Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine; Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia; Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility in Bremerton, Washington; and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Facility in Hawaii, Nashold's appointment comes at a critical time. Aligned with the Chief of Naval Operation's Navigation Plan for America's Warfighting Navy, the organization is optimizing operations through a warfighting lens, improving the readiness of our nation's most capable platforms.

"We are excited to welcome Ms. Nashold to our team of force generators," said Rear Adm. Scott Brown, Deputy Commander, Industrial Operations. "Her prior experience will be critical as we charge forward to improve fleet readiness in support of our U.S. Navy's maritime superiority."

Prior to joining NAVSEA, Nashold served as the deputy commander, Naval Information Forces where she lead a staff of over 500 military and civilian professionals, managed an annual budget of approximately $1.8 billion and was the senior civilian for type command staff where she was responsible for the man, train and equip functions for Navy information warfare and Fleet C5ISR (command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance). She was selected for appointment to the Senior Executive Service as director, Fleet Installations and Environment for U.S. Fleet Forces Command in May 2016. A former active-duty civil engineer corps officer, Nashold graduated with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in systems engineering and holds a Master of Engineering degree in environmental engineering from the University of Florida with a sub-specialty in hydrologic sciences.

"I enter this role understanding that the success of our nation's public shipyards and the sustainment of our nuclear forces is critical to our Navy," said Nashold. "I look forward to working with the NAVSEA 04 workforce, our yards, the Fleet and our industry partners to maximize readiness by ensuring maintenance, modernization and sustainment of ships, submarines, and systems is completed on-time."
