Rockwood Police Station: Open for walk-ins

Re-opening the Gresham Police Department's Rockwood substation was a high priority for voters in 2024. Thanks to levy's passage, people can once again walk through the station's front doors on 181^st Avenue to file non-emergency reports and talk to a safety specialist.

Today, non-sworn Community Safety Specialists (CSS) hired under the levy greet visitors at the front desk, providing answers and resources, and taking reports when needed.

"We usually hear how appreciative the community is to have the station open again for these services," said Community Safety Specialist Zach Jefferis, who notes that the CSS are always happy to serve residents and visitors to the station in need of support.

Rockwood resident Catherine Nicewood is pleased the levy has helped address this community need.

"The opening of the Rockwood Police Station has been a great asset to the Rockwood and Wilkes East neighborhoods," she said. "We have been asking for the opening since it closed during COVID. I appreciate all the work the Police do for Rockwood and for the City of Gresham."
