CU Art Guild presents ‘An Evening of Fine Arts’

The Cameron University Art Guild invites the public to celebrate creativity and connection at its inaugural "Spring Fling: An Evening of Fine Arts" on Thursday, April 16. The event takes place from 6-8 p.m. in the courtyard of the Louise D. McMahon Fine Arts Complex located in the 200 block of University Drive. The event is free and open to the public.

The special evening will showcase the artwork of high school students from Lawton and surrounding communities, including Altus, Central High, Comanche, Duncan, the Lawton Academy of Arts and Sciences, Lawton High, Lawton MacArthur, the LPS Life Ready Center and Marlow.

Guests can engage in a casual meet-and-greet with art CU faculty, alumni and current students as they create a welcoming space to connect, share experiences and celebrate the arts. They can also enjoy hamburgers and hotdogs as they listen to live music from the CU Jazz Ensemble.

"As students and artists, we believe the arts create meaningful connections within our community," said April Luikart, president of the CU Art Guild. "'Spring Fling' is designed to celebrate creativity, highlight the accomplishments of young artists, and provide an opportunity for people of all ages to experience the arts together."

In conjunction with "Spring Fling," the CU Department of Art, Music and Theatre Arts will present "A Night of Solo Performances" from five Cameron students at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults and $10 for military with proper identification, seniors and students in grades K-8. Cameron students, faculty and staff receive a free ticket by showing valid CU identification. Tickets can be reserved by calling 580-581-2346.
