The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is announcing that the Route 8, Exit 12A southbound off-ramp is re-opened to traffic as of Saturday, October 25, 2025. This work will continue on the Commodore Hull Bridge which carries Route 8 over the Housatonic River and Route 110 in Shelton and Derby. This project is ongoing and is scheduled to be completed on Friday, November 21, 2025. This project ensures the bridge remains in a state of good repair.
This project is being performed by Mohawk Northeast Inc.
LANE CLOSURE/DETOUR INFO
There will be continued lane closures on Route 8 north and southbound between Exit 12A and Exit 12B, until Friday, November 21, 2025, where two lanes of traffic will be maintained during the daytime and one lane of traffic will be maintained at nighttime. The schedule of nighttime lane closures can be found below:
Northbound
Monday - Friday (8:00 P.M. - 6:00 A.M.)
Saturday (8:00 P.M. - 9:00 A.M.)
Sunday (8:00 P.M. - 10:00 A.M.)
Southbound
Monday - Friday (7:00 P.M. - 5:00 A.M.)
Saturday (7:00 P.M. - 8:00 A.M.)
Sunday (7:00 P.M. - 9:00 A.M.)
The Exit 12A Route 8 southbound off-ramp is reopened starting on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Any changes to this project will be posted in future press releases. Traffic control signing patterns, crash units, illuminated arrows, and traffic control personnel will guide motorists through the work zone.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this area.
