According to the Americans with Disabilities Act, cancer can qualify as a disability, but it may not be an automatic qualifier. Hassan Nasser, M.D., otolaryngologist, surgical oncologist and member of the Head and Neck Oncology Multidisciplinary Team at Karmanos, explained the side effects that head and neck cancer patients may face during and after treatment, and what health care teams do to advocate on behalf of patients.
