Following a thorough investigation, the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) has arrested one suspect in connection with a fatal hit-and-run.

On March 5, officers with TPD responded to a traffic crash in the area of West Tennessee Street and Junco Court. The crash involved a sedan and a pedestrian. It was determined immediately after the crash that the driver of the sedan fled the scene without stopping or rendering aid. Sadly, the pedestrian died as a result of their injuries sustained from the crash.

TPD's Traffic Homicide Unit immediately responded to the scene and began an investigation. After a thorough investigation, detectives recovered the vehicle involved in the crash and developed probable cause to make an arrest for the driver of the vehicle, Nigeria Grant.

On March 31, members of the United States Marshals Task Force located and took Grant into custody for leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death.

"Our Traffic Homicide Unit worked diligently to identify the individual responsible in this case. Leaving the scene of a crash, especially one involving serious injury or death, is not only unlawful but a failure to render aid when it is needed most. We remain committed to holding those responsible accountable and pursuing justice for the victim and their loved ones," said Chief Lawrence Revell.

TPD remains committed to investigating these crimes and holding those responsible accountable. Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact TPD at 850-891-4200. Individuals wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS.
