State of Illinois Earns Aetna Workplace Well-being Platinum Award for Fifth Consecutive Year

SPRINGFIELD, IL - The Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) is proud to announce that the State of Illinois' Be Well Illinois program has once again earned the Aetna Workplace Well-being Platinum Award, marking the fifth consecutive year the State has received this recognition from Aetna.

The award reflects the State's sustained commitment to supporting the health and well-being of its employees, dependents, and retirees through a comprehensive, statewide approach focused on preventive care, early detection, healthy behaviors, and whole-person well-being.

"This recognition reflects the dedication of the State of Illinois to creating a culture of health and well-being for our employees and their families," said Raven A. DeVaughn, CMS Director. "What makes this achievement especially meaningful is the measurable impact we are seeing across our workforce. This includes increased engagement in preventive screenings to earlier identification of health risks and meaningful progress in population health."

Since its launch in 2021 in partnership with Aetna, Be Well Illinois has grown into a statewide wellness strategy serving a complex and diverse population spanning more than 450,000 covered lives.

Measuring the Impact of Be Well Illinois

A new white paper from Aetna and the State of Illinois, "Be Well Illinois: Aetna and the State of Illinois - Driving Measurable Population Health Impact at Scale," documents the program's evolution and results.

The analysis found that the State of Illinois has consistently performed above Aetna book-of-business benchmarks across preventive care and cancer screening measures. Among the key findings:

The Aetna Workplace Well-being Award program was established in 2017 and recognizes organizations that demonstrate excellence in wellness strategy, communication, and program execution.
