The City of Rochester (rochestermn.gov) and Rochester Public Library (rplmn.org) are excited to announce their new websites, designed to make it easier for people to find information, use online services and stay connected.
The new websites are expected to launch on April 15 and will feature:
Improved accessibility for all
"The launch of our new websites reflects our commitment to making City services more accessible, transparent and easy to use," said Jenna Bowman, Strategic Communications & Engagement Director. "Whether someone is paying a bill, exploring programs or staying informed, these updates will help people connect with the City more quickly and confidently."
The updated rochestermn.gov will make it simpler to find City services, programs and updates. The new rplmn.org will help library users more easily explore and access online resources, keep up to date with library news and navigate library services.
"Community members highlighted the need for improved accessibility and technology during our recent library master planning process," said Karen Lemke, Library Director. "It's important that barriers, both physical and digital, are minimized to ensure everyone has access to the library resources they need."
The City and Library have used community input, staff feedback and best practices in web design, usability and accessibility to ensure the new websites meet the needs of everyone in Rochester.
These updates also reflect a broader step forward for the organization. With Rochester Public Utilities having recently launched its new website, all three organizations are now using the same content management system, creating greater alignment, shared tools, and a more unified experience both internally and for the public.
In addition, moving to a shared platform supports long-term sustainability by reducing costs and improving efficiency, ensuring the City and its departments can continue delivering high-quality digital services in a fiscally responsible way.
Residents can continue to visit rochestermn.gov and rplmn.org as usual; once the new sites launch, users will automatically be directed to the updated experience. If any issues are encountered, including broken links, residents are encouraged to contact 311 by phone or by submitting a service request.
