On the meeting with representatives of the United States Institute of Peace
On November 13, 2024, a meeting was held between the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev and the Senior Project Coordinator of the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) Barmak Pazhwak and Leading Fellow Matthew Parks.
The representatives of the Institute emphasized the significant role of Uzbekistan in establishing long-term and sustainable peace in Afghanistan, and also expressed interest in continuing cooperation with the Uzbek side in supporting consultations with various countries in the region in order to develop a strategy for a peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan and improve the socio-economic situation in this country.
The parties expressed mutual interest in continuing consultations on Afghanistan.
