Dat Hoang, Georgia Advisory Board Member

For Dat Hoang, finance has always been about more than transactions. It is about people, possibilities, and helping others build a stronger future. A Louisiana native now based in Augusta, Georgia, Dat brings this people-first approach to his work as a mortgage broker and to his commitment to serving his community.

Through his professional and volunteer work, Dat is passionate about creating pathways for others to thrive. He helps individuals and families work toward homeownership while supporting real estate investors in building long-term assets. Outside of his career, he is actively involved in community leadership and philanthropy. He serves as president of the Rotary Club of Augusta for 2026-27 and is an alumnus of Leadership Augusta and Leadership Columbia County. He also supports youth development and cancer care through organizations such as First Tee of Augusta, the Georgia Cancer Center at Wellstar-MCG, and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Baton Rouge. He also serves on the LSU Alumni Association Young Advisory Council.

Dat's connection to Arete Scholars began with a personal discovery. While reading the organization's 2024 Annual Report, he was moved to see a featured Louisiana student from his own hometown of Lafayette. That connection inspired him to learn more about Arete's mission and the students it serves. Since then, he has visited City School Atlanta and Atlanta Youth Academy, spent time with Arete Scholars, and shared candid life advice to help them navigate their futures.

Those conversations reinforced Dat's belief in the power of investing in young people. He sees Arete's work as a tangible way to turn educational equity into reality for families facing financial challenges. For Dat, supporting scholarships means more than covering tuition. It means investing in the next generation of leaders across Georgia and Louisiana and giving students the opportunity to reach their greatest potential.

Dat's commitment to service is also deeply rooted in his faith. Inspired by Acts 20:35, which emphasizes the blessing of giving, he believes serving others is one of life's greatest privileges. Through his involvement with Arete, he puts that belief into action by helping create life-changing educational opportunities for students and families.

The Arete Scholars Advisory Board plays a vital role in expanding educational opportunities for students and families across Georgia and Louisiana. Through their leadership, generosity, and belief in Arete's mission, board members help open doors that might otherwise remain closed. Thank you, Dat, for your commitment to serving others and helping the next generation of students build brighter futures.
