BISMARCK, N.D. - More than 100 years after Theodore Roosevelt called on America to "speak softly and carry a big stick," U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) is hosting the inaugural "Carry a Big Stick" Defense Forum. The event highlights President Roosevelt's foreign policy axiom in the context of North Dakota's central role in America's national defense. It brings together North Dakota's existing defense infrastructure with forwardlooking military strategy, positioning the state as a forum for the national dialogue and innovative ideas needed to ensure America has the strength to deter conflict and, if necessary, defend itself.
To kick off the series of events, Cramer, who authored the GOLDEN DOME Act, invited Golden Dome Director General Michael Guetlein and U.S. Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) to participate in a fireside chat.
Cramer, who led the effort to establish the Space Force and who chairs the Senate Armed Services Airland Subcommittee, will host the inaugural forum on Aug. 20 at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, bringing together national security leaders, military officials, policymakers, and defense stakeholders.
