AUC Chairperson this afternoon bade farewell to H.E. Dr. Robert Afriyie, Ambassador of Ghana

H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission this afternoon bade farewell to H.E. Dr. Robert Afriyie, Ambassador of #Ghana to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the AU & the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.

The Chairperson expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Afriyie for his active & constructive engagement in the work of the Union, as well as for Ghana's longstanding commitment to Pan-Africanism, democratic governance, & continental integration. He further commended Ghana's important contribution to advancing Africa's voice & global standing, including its advocacy on issues of historical justice, reparatory justice, & the rights & dignity of Africans & people of African descent, notably through the recent United Nations General Assembly resolution on reparations.

Ambassador Afriyie, in turn, expressed appreciation for Chairperson Youssouf's principled & forward-looking leadership on continental and global matters, while reaffirming the Government of Ghana's continued support for his mandate & for the objectives and priorities of the African Union.

The Chairperson wished Ambassador Afriyie every success in his future endeavours and expressed his readiness to continue working closely with Ghana & with his successor in further advancing the shared aspirations of the continent.
