What does it mean to live in a "Built Green" home? We're diving into the benefits of living in a Built Green community and what goes into the process of creating our 4-star Built Green Certified homes in the Willows 124 Community, located in Redmond, Washington.
Tri Pointe Homes® is excited to be at the forefront of sustainable building innovations. Our newest community to achieve a 4-star Built Green rating is Willows 124 in Redmond, Washington. Our team worked to find eco-friendly materials and processes that help your new home stay sustainable for decades to come.
What is Built Green?
In partnership with King County, Snohomish County, and other government agencies in Washington state-the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties developed a holistic, green home certification and named it "Built Green". This indicates that for everyone in the building process from architects to developers and product suppliers-thought has gone into the environmental impact of the build, including how to reduce carbon emissions and improve efficiency throughout the life of the home.
Built Green provides a framework to ascribe the level of 'green' a residential project achieves based on a checklist of features and expected environmental impact. Some of the elements of focus are site and water development, energy efficiency, air quality, materials efficiency, and operation of the home. The more 'green' materials and processes used during construction, the higher the home's overall Built Green Star-rating.
At Willows 124, we've implemented Built Green standards into virtually every aspect of the development. From the green spaces to smart tech inside your new home-it's created with healthier living in mind in the present, and a lifetime of carbon reduction in the future. Nestled just outside the major tech hubs of Microsoft and Google HQ on the Eastside, the location of Willows 124 is central to the unique blend of nature and innovation the Pacific Northwest is known for.
We are excited to say Willows 124 achieved a 4-star Built Green rating. In your new home, we anticipate that you'll enjoy all the benefits of green living including:
Potential Cost Savings
At Willows 124, every home is designed to optimize energy efficiency. From the use of natural daylight and efficient lightbulbs to extra insulation and efficient water heaters-the goal is for everyday utility costs of running your home to be reduced.
A Healthier Living Environment
From your first moments in your new home, you may notice the lack of "new carpet smell" or "fresh paint smell"-that's because we select low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) interior paints. You're surrounded by thoughtfully selected materials aimed at conserving natural resources (such as bamboo, cork, and strawboard) that look beautiful and help contribute to a more comfortable home.
Footprint Reduction
Every consideration, from the way water runs off the pavement to the resources used to take a shower-contributes to a home designed to reduce your carbon footprint and conserve resources. Having less of an impact on the environment while enjoying the conveniences of your dream home is a win-win.
