Majority Leader Schumer’s Statement On Moldova’s Presidential Elections
New York, N.Y. - Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today released the following statement congratulating President Maia Sandu of Moldova on her reelection:
"I'm honored to congratulate President Maia Sandu on her reelection by the people of Moldova.
"This is an election into which Putin had reportedly tried to interfere, but the people of Moldova stood together and stood up for democracy.
"As the people of Moldova seek to join the European Union, I'm proud to say they are standing as a bulwark for democratic rights."
