Crans-Montana tragedy: President Meloni receives Italian Ambassador to Switzerland

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, received the Italian Ambassador to Switzerland, Gian Lorenzo Cornado, at Palazzo Chigi today, after he was recalled to Rome in agreement with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, in light of the decision by the Court of Compulsory Measures of Sion to order the release of Jacques Moretti from prison.

The meeting was also attended by Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Alfredo Mantovano and State Advocate General Gabriella Palmieri Sandulli, and it was decided that the Ambassador should not return to Switzerland until effective collaboration is initiated between the judicial authorities in the two States, with the immediate establishment of a joint investigation team to ascertain, without any further delay, who was responsible for the Crans-Montana tragedy of 1 January 2026.
