U.S. 20/Illinois 84 bridge repairs in Jo Daviess County begin July 20

JO DAVIESS COUNTY - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that, weather permitting, repairs will begin on a bridge carrying U.S. 20/Illinois 84 across Smallpox Creek in Jo Daviess County on Monday, July 20. The work zone is 3 miles east of Galena.

Work will repair the bridge deck. One lane of traffic will be open and maintained by temporary traffic signals. Also, Glen Hollow Road, which runs next to the bridge, will be closed between U.S. 20/Illinois 84 and Cinnamon Drive. The project is scheduled to be completed by 3 p.m. Friday, July 31.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area when feasible, the use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
