Hoover Acquires the Kevin M. Woods Iraqi Monographs Collection

Kevin M. Woods is a retired Army officer, defense analyst, historian, and the Deputy Director of the Joint Advanced Warfighting Division at the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA). Educated at Auburn University, the US Naval War College, and the University of Leeds, Woods is also a part-time lecturer at Johns Hopkins University. As part of his research portfolio at IDA, Woods led the decade-long Iraqi Perspectives Project and developed the Conflict Records Research Center. He is the author/co-author of several books, articles, and studies regarding the contemporary military history of Iraq and the regime of Saddam Hussein.

The Kevin M. Woods Iraqi Monographs collection includes: the Role of the Iraqi Air Force and Air Defense in the Iraq-Iran War written by Major General Staff Pilot: Alwan Hassoun AI-Abousi; a brief of the Role Played by the Iraqi Air Force and Air Defense in the Iraq-Iran War; the Preparation Stage and Reasons Behind the War, from Golan Heights to the Fall of Baghdad: Six Wars in Thirty Years written by Lieutenant-General of the Iraqi Republican Guard, Ra'ad AI-Hamdani; and some Aspects of the Iraq-Iran War-1980-1988 written by major General Aladdin Hussein Makki Khamas.

Accounts of significant battles and Arabic Titled Archives can also be found in the Kevin M. Woods Iraqi Monographs collection. The battles covered are wide-ranging, including multiple installments of the "In God, We Trust" series, battles in specific locations such as Sarbeel Zahab, Alkhafaji, Penjwen, Maysan, Muhammara City, East Basra, Colina, and Keelan.
