Speakers announced for Energy UK’s Annual Conference

The programme for Energy UK's 2026 Annual Conference has been announced, featuring a packed agenda of senior leaders, politicians and high-profile commentators who will debate and discuss the most important energy issues facing the UK.

The flagship conference, Energy Matters 2026, will take place on Wednesday 14 October at One Great George Street, Westminster, SW1P 3AA, with ScottishPower as the headline partner.

More than ever before, energy is the subject of intense public debate and scrutiny right now. Conflict in the Middle East has pushed gas prices and energy bills to a three-year high, intensifying existing concerns about costs for both households and businesses and increasing the focus on domestic energy debt, which is predicted to reach £7 billion by the end of the year.

The new administration's first policy announcement - removing VAT from energy bills - was a statement of its intent to tackle bills and wider cost-of-living pressures, but there are widespread calls to do more to support customers. The hottest summer on record and its consequences has added new pressures on the energy system and increased focus on the speed of the country's move to clean energy.

Funding the costs of that transition fairly and meeting future demand while maintaining and strengthening energy security in an unstable world are huge challenges for the country - as is the need to upgrade our infrastructure, electrify more of our homes, businesses and transport and attract the necessary investment to enable all this.
